Party with Bats

posted by tristan @ 5/30/2006 06:50:00 PM

A wonderful saturday evening spent.

After half a day of standby, I have decided to take the risk and carry on with my plans. Meet up with esther and erjie for volunteer work at Kent Ridge Park. My first time being there and I realise it has such a fantastic view. Its a programme organised by the Nature Society, so a couple of NIE trainees including erjie was there to help out. I joined in the fun as well because we'll be interacting with little children from Kindergarden. I love kids as they are such cute and lovable people who're harmless, original and speaks right from their heart.

The main purpose of the "Party with Bats" was to share and educate them more about bats. We started off with some memory games with the little ones, followed by a talk by Doctor Vilma. Then, we were separated into groups for activites. That is to learn more about bats characteristics and behaviour, a brief write up on a chart and a presentation from various groups. (Wah! So young only start to have presentation, haha!)

As the night approach, it was a trek to find bats using the bats detector. Bats activities started to took place and I was amazed, so were the children. (I just realise, only insect bats will send echosound waves to search for their food. 21 years old then start to realise also not that late right?). While treking and searching for the bats, 3 of Doc Vilma's friends were already hunting for bats. They took quite sometime to catch one, applause please. Bats aren't creepy as it seems and this is the first time I have an upclose and personal view of a bat. Its like a hamster/ or mouse with wings. Pretty cute actually. =) After the kids have seen the bat and , it was put back into the wild.

Had a debrief and we went out to have Nasi Lemak and Prata for dinner. Followed by Selegie beancurd (consecutive 3 weeks for me) and chilling out at Changi Terminal till 2a.m. Anyway, thanks to erjie, my qing ai de peng you, also wq for driving us around that night. I had so much fun.

Here are some of the photos.

sunday blues

posted by tristan @ 5/28/2006 11:05:00 PM

I just thought, perhaps, one fine day I'll just lie flat on the floor, died of heart attack.

Why do things always happen this way? I had a great saturday evening, and all that happiness was taken back within a single day.

When I got home an hour ago, my aunt was asking me, "how come you've become skinnier within a week?" And I told her, in fact, i became skinnier within a day.

I feels so much like lil' christopher now. Where 4 yellow cars = Super Bad Day

Firstly I was awaken by a phone call from a fellow camp mate at 8 this morning, claiming that mobilisation would most probably take place today. And I slept at 3a.m yesterday. Goodness.
Sleep was disturbed = Pissed
Indeed, it was activated and was called back to camp. But what really pissed me off was being a runner to the Ops room, and that fucking specs just tried to dilly dally as if I've the whole day for him. And i hate inefficient people. I'm serious. I swear, ever comes a day if he becomes my employee, he will get hell life from me. I swear.
Meeting inefficient people = Very pissed

I was already very anxious about ting's birthday, trying my best to make it. All this starts to make sense when daddy was kind enough to fetch me.
Caring people = Cooled down a little
Had a quick dinner and rushed off. But I can't board that fucking bus because there were so many fucking people.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Stupid Bus = Temperature rising fast.
Fine, I wait. And I alighted at the wrong bus stop and walk practically 2 bus stop to her house. Temperature is rising again.
Being a cuckoo in a stranger estate = Very pissed
Nevermind, I remain my cool, because its ting's birthday.

And when I stepped out from the lift, I simply feel like turning back.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Seeing some eyesore creature = Extremely Pissed, boiling and erupting like Mt Merapi
Thanks! Thanks for making my Sunday Oh-so-PERFECT!! That kind of feeling was horrendous and I simply abhore it. I've never been so angry before, angry to the state whereby I feel so depressed and felt as if the whole world is collapsing. When I dislike something, means I dislike something, why do I have to force myself to like it when I detest it?! Makes no sense right. Suddenly I felt as if i was being deceived by all my good friends.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Deceived feelings = Depressed

And frankly speaking, no ones understand that kind of feeling when everything just went all wrong for the whole day. Tell me who can take double blow in a single day. Refer to the first sentence again: I just thought, perhaps, one fine day I'll just lie flat on the floor, died of heart attack.

Amazing weekend

posted by tristan @ 5/21/2006 10:22:00 AM

Its an amazing weekend. It started off with Da Vinci Code on friday evening. I went to watch with my dear brother, Lars and Caroline. Though I've never lay my hands on this Brown's famous book, I still find it quite comprehendable. Yes, there are times when the story and plot goes into a little complication and watchers really need to work their brains off for this show. I stepped out from the theatre feeling a little exhausted, especially my brain. Bro, Lars and I went for a spin and later decided to head to Changi Airport for a drink.

I was in a dilemma of whether should I go for the teaching career seminar. The sudden phone call on friday evening left me stranded and not knowing what to do! I've already registered, but I thought there will definitely be another chance in near future.

And yes, I had my first lifetime experience of a photoshoot yesterday. I had enjoyed myself to the maximum, though its quite tedious. And that 5.5 hours is just waiting, changing and shooting. It took me 1.5 hours to wait for my turn for hairdo and makeup to be done. It was an outdoor shoot, thus the heat was almost unbearable. Bad news, while changing, I dropped my precious 2 weeks old 6280. Its bad this time round as the casing chipped off a little. =(

Rushed off to meet lian to get some stuff from Prints and we waited for En to knock off before going to Selegie for beancurd again. We took some photos and some crazy videos. I'm still trying to figure, how to upload onto Youtube. Everything just turns out so well yesterday, except for the 6280 bit. Cheers to everyone.

I will like to leave this very last section for a quiz. I can't seem to figure out the answer. Or maybe I should put it this way. I knew the answer, but I don't know how it happens.
Scholars, please help!

[Q] A woman has seven (7) children, half of them are boys. How can this be possible?

Unmotivated.

posted by tristan @ 5/15/2006 10:14:00 PM

Been trying to make up for the past 2 weekends of hibernation at home, because of rashes & sore throat and flu bug.

Anyway, I'm just trying my best to find back that kind of motivation and drive to past everyday happily. Deep inside I just find I'm not smiling anymore. I don't know why, even for mum's day celebration, I tried to be a happy kid, but in the end, I guess everything is still trapped inside me.

When will my freedom returns? I don't see it, neither do I smell it. This is bad. Ah bai asked me to try out SQ Cadet Pilot position, which the chances is so slim. Nonetheless, I should at least give myself a chance right?

Let me conclude what I've done for the past few days (pictures excluded due to laziness and unmotivation)

Friday: Went to purchase my new Nokia 6280. Yes, I love the HP loads, and I'll be sneaking in the phone on several occassion. (I don't get it! Why they disallowed camera handphone when I've zero-interest of taking pictures in camp). Met lian and en for dinner at Big O. The Pan-fried Cod fish is extremely delicious. Please try it!

Saturday: Badminton game with ex-coursemates. Seems like I've got a thing for badminton these days. Sweat it out and I just love the game. Went Ajisen for lunch thereafter. Went airport to pick Ah-bai up. This is my first time seeing her in her uniform. She's down lately, but I can say that your life is definitely more enjoyable than mine. Treasure what you have now.
Then its dinner with Dad and mum and supper with Ariel and Jas. The rochor beancurd is really nice. yum-yum. We went to ECP to chill out for a while. Ended up dozing off in Jas's car. I'm so freaking tired.

Sunday: Didn't went Breakfast with mum and dad. I'm very very tired. And beginning to taste the aftermath of sports without warm up. Aches, aches and more aches (not eggs huh). Dinner was at New Changi Ferry Terminal. Its Mother's Day. So kor reserved a table there. Nice ambience, food taste pretty good too. Nice place for a drink and relaxation, really.
After the dinner, we went to Village hotel to chill at Vau Lounge. A major facelift from the previous Le Meridien. Its amazingly beautiful. Love the rooftop swimming pool. You can see Changi Airport and enjoying under the stars while dipping in the water. Nice!

Today: Accompanied Ah-bai to Clinic with Erjie. Went to DFS (again) and Far East to shop for Er-jie's bag. While shopping, ah-bai and I stupidly came out with alot of Jap's description words E.g. Nose is called "Bi-tsu", mouth is called "Zui-ba" - Please use Jap accent while pronouncing them. Thank you! Followed up by Poseidon, which was really good. 4 out of 5. And the new Cathay is extremely cold. I was shivering already. Geez.

Now: Feeling bored. Its a brand new week again. Mobilsation in a week time. (Hope it won't be activated) And you know what makes me laugh? Its Ah-bai's secret photo. lolx. Damn funny and cute lo.

July Baby

posted by tristan @ 5/10/2006 07:10:00 PM

Received an email from one of my friend and thought over 90% reflects the true July babies. I am one. Let's analyse and see how true can it be.

  • Fun to be with.
  • True. I am fun to be with. Always hyper and crappy.
  • Secretive.
  • I guess this apply to any other babies. Everyone has his or her own little secret, which they would want to bring it to grave. lolx
  • Difficult to fathom and to be understood.
  • Hmmm...not really. You can understand me better when time goes by.
  • Quiet unless excited or tensed.
  • Ya. Especially nowadays in army. I hardly talk. But with friends around i'm more open up.
  • Takes pride in oneself.
  • I'm a man. I definitely have pride.
  • Has reputation.
  • Ermmm.. like?
  • Easily consoled.
  • Maybe. Just a few good ears to listen and giving back fantastic feedback would tame me!
  • Honest.
  • Ohhh yes. Used to be, but i discovered dishonest is better these days. Take the handphone incident i picked up from the street would explain too honest doesn't really pay.
  • Concerned about people's feelings.
  • Yes. Whatever message I want to bring across to the other party, I'll definitely think how much it weighs in their heart. But there are times I just have to be straight and might hurt them. Afterall, its for their own good. Hope they can understand.
  • Tactful. Friendly. Approachable.
  • Yes. Only after knowing me for quite sometime, I will then open up. That's when you'll see all my true colours.
  • Emotional temperamental and unpredictable.
  • On a bad day, for sure!
  • Moody and easily hurt.
  • On a bad day too.
  • Witty and sparkly. Spazzy at times.
  • Witty, Sparkly, Spazzy?
  • Not revengeful. Forgiving but never forgets.
  • 100% true. I can forgive but never will I forget. And sadly, to date, their only 1 person who falls right into my "UNFORGIVABLE" list.
  • Dislikes nonsensical and unnecessary things.
  • I blurt out nonsensical stuff at times, so how can I dislike other parties doing the same thing?
  • Guides others physically and mentally.
  • I had love to do that.
  • Sensitive and forms impressions carefully.
  • I am super-duper sensitive.
  • Caring and loving.
  • Awww. Definitely!
  • Treats others equally.
  • Not really, I tend to be biased at times.
  • Strong sense of sympathy.
  • True also. My heart sink whenever I see disastrous event happening around the world. It just shows how fortunate I am to have what I need in this life.
  • Wary and sharp.
  • Eh?
  • Judges people through observations.
  • Really?
  • Hardworking. No difficulties in studying.
  • I must be hardworking because I face so much difficulties in my studies.
  • Loves to be alone.
  • When I am at home YES! When i'm out there, I had love someone to be by myside.
  • Always broods about the past and the old friends.
  • Not brood, but remember. Those little happenings in life just makes up MEMORIES.
  • Waits for friends. Never looks for friends.
  • I don't get this point.
  • Not aggressive unless provoked.
  • Obviously, why would I want to find trouble when it haven't come knocking at my door. But when I am irritated, I can be deadly. *with a smirk on my face*
  • Loves to be loved.
  • Who doesn't right?
  • Easily hurt but takes long to recover.
  • Oh really?

"LIVE" cash withdrawal machines

posted by tristan @ 5/07/2006 10:32:00 AM

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

As I was flipping through The Sunday Times, 30th April 2005, I saw this interesting article, read, stared into space and decided to share with fellow bloggers. I, or perhaps we must admit that the world have changed. With the income and standard of living gap widening between the rich and poor, the children are not only excessively spoilt, but to the rotten stage.
Below are my critics for the article and it will be followed in sequence as of the red highlighted boxes.

1) Miss Pang's is a business graduate, but with her poor results, she got a job that is lower than any of her peers. Dad decided to chip in additional $600, to make her daughter feels better and also her "self-esteem"
- It doesn't mean that with a degree, you are guranteed with high flying job. Look at her salary, with a mere $1600 a month, it doesn't make much of a difference with fellow diploma holders.
- Who can she blame but herself with the results, right?
- When the encouragement becomes a habit, the effect would eventually backfire, and giving her money will then be a necessary thing to do.

2) $340 Parking Lot, $3000 Chanel handbag and $600 Ferragamo shoes.

3) 3 Supplementary Credit Card, Visit Top Boutiques, handphone bills hit $600 with an earning of $3.3k per month.
-Seriously, don't even think about stepping into these shops if you can hardly earn enough to feed yourself.
- Don't you think its an ultimate shame. Fancy these people shopping with their parents money and credit card. Hello, that guy is earning $3.3k a month. The ultimate aim of shopping is to shop with your own money, that's when you find enjoyment and will treasure the products you bought even more.

4) "If i don't spend on her, who can I spend on? She will understand what a mother's love means when she become a mother herself"
- I can only say that in the long run, kids will love their parents because of their $MONEY$, and not what they give from their heart.
Its definitely despairing to see how grown ups are still dependent on their parents financially. Yes, once in a while, parents can have the freedom to give their kids a little cash, but not to the extend of frequent handouts. This would only cultivate a wrong mindset in them. If I was the one in such cases, I will always think that "I can spend as much as I desire. Afterall, when I'm utterly broke, I still have my parents to fall back on".
